Termite inspection and treatment in Kenyan buildings

Bubbling paint on skirting, fine grit below pinholes in MDF, and discarded wings near windows are early signs; do not wait for structural collapse before acting.

Exposed timber roof framing during a termite inspection

Kenya’s climate supports active subterranean termites all year, with swarming often noticeable during and after long rains. Telltale signs include mud shelter tubes on foundations or walls, hollow sounding timber, blistered paint, and fine droppings from drywood species in furniture or roof voids. Many policies exclude termite damage, so an early assessment by a trained team saves cost.

We trench, treat soil contact zones, and use baiting or foaming where labels and construction allow, especially where conduit runs give termites hidden highways through slabs. New slabs and extensions should receive coordinated pre treatment before finishes seal access. If fresh screed is poured over untreated gaps, the problem is only hidden.
